I Haven't Thought Of You Lately At All

recently, I've found myself to be quite detached from fashion. I've been shopping and looked at all the latest offerings from New York fashion week and I still cannot connect to it like I did last season. The reason to me is obvious and I don't want to keep talking about it but it changed the view I have on fashion, maybe not for long but certainly for now.
I decided to not do what I usually do (review quite a few shows from each fashion week) but just go with it. If there's something nice I'll post it, I don't have much time or care for negativity. This thought brought me right to Proenza Schouler and their departure from the nu-rave-surf aesthetic into a grown-up school chic. When I first saw the collection I immediately though of Taylor Momsen with her love for thigh-highs, gothic lips and bleach hair: all elements combines on the catwalk created a great look. As for the clothes, simplicity ruled with statement scribble print that added a care-free element to the otherwise stern outfits. This collection is exactly what I want to wear today and not next season as it incorporates style and a sort of warmth without compromise on flirtiness and comfort (as long as we discard the hosiery that is).

Show Us Your Flesh

TopShop's beautifully nude accessories caught my eye! Nudes are generally extremely wearable so the trend for them will never actually die. Note: nude ballet pumps make legs look longer.
Lace has, too, moved into a nude territory from the gothic interpretation of autumn/winter. Only one thing is needed now: SPRING!

I'll Go To Any Lengths For You, My Fashion Darling

The temperatures in London are seriously low. EVERYONE is wearing trousers/jeans. What do I do? I decide to, inconviniently, brave the cold/snow in a maxi dress and ankle boots. I'm not going to diverge on what happened there and instead will point out that maxis rock. For too long have we worn everything thigh skimming: skirts, shorts, dresses and even boots. It is worth trying out this new and suprisingly daring hemline. It works well for day as part of a more grungy look (1,3) and adds a sexiness to evening outfits (2) that is beyond the obvious. Hat Talk

Hats. Yes, it seems like a good time to talk about them. You know with autumn looming and all? I've always found hats to be slightly romanticized in their nature, maybe due to historic nostalgia that is exuded when one wears a hat or the numerous 'tortured' indie boys who walk arounf with fedora/bowler/tribly hats. Nevertheless on a woman they add something mysterious and unarguably stylish since very few actually wear hats nowadays. My prefered hats are berets and crochet beanie types but I am not opposed to a floppy-brimed one that covers my face and obstructs my vision.

CapeTown

Today, for some reason, I got thinking about capes hence the cheesy title. Capes are really cool! You must be really amazed with that comment so I shall elaborate. It's probably the quirkiness of it that draws me in as well as impracticality. In London wearing a cape is like protestin against the weather, usless, nonetheless I attempted to style outfits that would take cape from editorials and chauffer-driven ladies to those girls who have to use public trasport and sometimes walk if they're forgotten their Oyster/ran out of money.
